Quotebook — Notebook for Quotes App Reviews

If sync wasnt one of the selling points of this app, itd be 5 stars. Unfortunately its one of their bullet points on the apps description, and works dismally. Ive used the app off and on for about a month now and had it sync successfully once. Ive emailed their support a couple of times, but have only received a reply once with instructions that did not work. My advice for the app creators: stop using whatever sync service youve been using (I suspect its iCloud Core Data) and use something else, because it is horribly broken.

I am comforted by all the complaints - Im not alone. This has been my favorite app - been copying quotes for years and love that I have a place for them all. Then the Apple upgrade and trouble all over. Lost quotes,tags now in duplicate on phone (but not IPad?), cant figure out how to edit tags, and Phone/Pad not syncing. I really really REALLY hope Quotebook 3 can get this together

This app has one job and does it well. It is ridiculously useful. My best friend saw it on my phone and was all like "o-m-g gotta have that"

I bought this app for two reasons, to collect quotes and to support an independent developer. I heard the dev interviewed on a podcast. Unfortunately the app isnt functioning. It freezes on launch most of the time and when it doesnt it freezes or suddenly quits within a few minutes of use. For the first time ever Im requesting a refund from Apple for a purchase.

Im starting to use this app as a notebook for quotes and other information that I paste into it. The tagging feature helps locate and review the content. However, Im concerned that the app is not very stable, and most importantly, there should be a way to export the entire library of your quotes for safe keeping. Please keep working on developing this app. Its well designed, but not as stable as it could be.

I recently purchased this application and nearly gave it a one star review. After putting on my detective hat I found that all of my troubles were primarily caused by iOS 8 iCloud bugs that were also harming many other app developers. I decided to put a hold on my use of the application and not review. Now that iOS 8.1.1 has been pushed out, I finally get to use this application. It is fantastic! I decided to come review this app because I figured the developer has probably taken a lot of flak for things out of their control. Sync is now working great for me. Id say others can purchase without hesitation. Disclaimer: I am currently on iCloud Drive. Your mileage my vary if you start using this app on the iOS 7 iCloud then make the transition to iCloud Drive with iOS 8

I had so many quotes stored. When I updated to the new version they are gone. I have tried everything. If I look in iCloud the file of stored quotes appears to be there, but it cannot be synced to the app. Please help! This is a five star save this critical problem. And it destroys confidence going forward.

My data is gone! All of my quotes are gone! Gone!

From October, I wrote: "I lost all my quotes. Thanks, Lickability. Wont be using this junk anymore." Now December: "STILL NOT FIXED??!!!"

Ive been using this app since it came out, and sung its praises for the longest time. That is, until like so many other reviewers, I lost ALL of my quotes when updating to the new version (3.0 + iOS 8). Ive been scouring the web for solutions by the developer or even other customers, only to find that Im not alone. I made the choice to fully rely on this app for quite storage, which I felt was reasonable as this is a paid app. Im writing this review to warn potential buyers that your data will not be safe/stored with this app. Use Evernote or something else instead. Seriously.

I really love this app! But sadly its messed up with icloud drive sync. Initially, I thought it was icloud drive. But I found other apps with icloud sync works fine. So please fix the sync problem and if you couldnt handle icloud, please adopt dropbox!

Ive been waiting for this update forever but it was worth the wait. This is the best app for your personal quote collection. It does not shove internet quotes down your throat and lets you add quotes intuitively and easy. The import csv works great and the app is a delight both visually and functionally. I never lost a qoute with it, but I do recommand a back-up to mail from time to time. My deepest thanks to the devs this is the best quote app in the appstore hands down. I read a lot of users complaining that they lost all of their quotes... Never happened to me I jus hit restore after I installed the app and all of my quotes were back. Anyway keep in mind that every system is imperfect and do a e-mail back-up every few months.

Good app; I like it a lot. Unlike others, I havent experienced any glitches, thankfully. (But Im not syncing between two devices either, which is where most of the issues seem to be stemming from.) One missing feature prevents the app from getting 5 stars from this reviewer: theres no way to add a personal note to a quote. I often want to explain the meaning of a quote, explain how I came across it, or make some other such comment. This missing feature is important enough to me that Im beginning to think of storing my quotes in some other fashion. (Another quote app? Within Evernote?) Developers: PLEASE add an optional Notes field!

I really like the concept of this app. Unfortunately, the loss of data is unacceptable. I’ve lost my entire library of quotes on three different occasions. At this point, I’m just going to use a plain text document to save quotes I love. Maybe I’ll give this another shot once they figure out their problems, but from the looks of it, that will be quite some time.

I hate to leave negative reviews, but Ive exported any quotes I did keep in this app and am planning to use something on my computer to keep track of quotes. I love what Quotebook promises, but Ive been using it since the previous version and sync between the iPad and iPhone versions is inconsistent at best, and mostly just doesnt work for me. The new version (3) was supposed to address sync reliability but for me it hasnt. Also, my message to their support email went unanswered and its been at least a month. Who knows if its because they dont have enough time to support the app, arent charging enough, etc. But as a user who has only had sync working properly about 10% of the time, Im moving to something more reliable like OmniOutliner or Tinderbox on the desktop.

Until I lost all my quotes

Ive used this app for several months now, and cant imagine living without it it. Before finding Quotebook, It literally took me months of searching the App Store for an app I could use solely to store and collect my own quotes. This was a rare find, and a true gem; Ive never had any problems, and love having a place to add, store, and review the quotes I collect. The frosting on the cake: NO ANNOYING DEMANDS FOR REVIEWS!! That alone tells you the excellence and integrity of this app and its developers.

Updated review #3: Do not buy this app; they apparently spent a lot of time working on it, changing the interface and "fixing" the synching. The iCloud synching STILL does not work between my iPhone and iPad. Repeated polite emails to the developer have gone unanswered. I see i am not alone in this, just about every other review for this apps says the same thing. The other half of them are 5-star sing-their-praisies reviews of folks who just found the app. Boy, are they in for a rude awakening. Do not buy this app. It is buggy, loses data, does not synch, and the developers do not support it or respond to support requests. Meanwhile the lead developer (or at least the first one listed in the apps credits screen) has time for 11,000+ tweets. I think you need to rethink your time priorities, @mb.... I will be exporting my data, manually de-duping/synching my hundreds of quotes, and switching to some other app. --------------- Review #2: DO NOT BUY THIS APP. It has recently become very unstable and will cause all your quotes and rages to duplicate repeatedly, and sometimes to gives the quotes differing attributions. Developers are EXTREMELY slow to respond to emails and after several months have done NOTHING to fix the problem. STAY AWAY! If they ever fix the problems then in will revise my review. My old review to this once-stellar product is below. ----------- My old review: ----------- This is a very nicely done app but it badly needs Dropbox and iDisk/iCloud support for import, export and backup. It also needs iPad support (universal version please!) A Mac version would be nice too, and Windows if you must. Or a web interface. More social media support. Auto-suggest is also very poor and almost never finds a result. It would be nice to be able to flip through the quotes without the editing interface and perhaps control the font, size and background image of each quote when viewing that way. Printing or copying or creating an image in your photo library from that would also be nice. Being able to print a quote at various sizes suitable for framing would be nice too. But except for iPad/universal and Dropbox/iDisk support (which is a MUST these days) all of those are "nice to haves" in a very good app.

There have been a lot of negative reviews and I feel bad for those folks. It would be awful to lose all my quotes! One negative reviewer suggested the only positive reviews were from people who just found or barely began using this app. That does not describe me. Ive been using this app since the 2.0 update. (FYI: I have the latest iOS updates and an iPhone 6.) I love this app! I couldnt survive without it. I currently have nearly 2,000 quotes and Im still going strong. I primarily use it on my iPad. In fairness, syncing between my iPhone and iPad wasnt reliable (authors and sources kept getting jumbled) so for the most part I stopped using it on my iPhone. I utilize the backup feature often and it has been great for me. My brother uses this app too and we share our quote collection back and forth. There are some features Id love to see in the next update (i.e. ability to italicize portions of a quote for emphasis or a source for books, undo star ratings, have quotations and apostrophes curved rather than straight, have emdash abilities, and a find and replace feature) but overall this is still the single best quote app Ive found. One feature I really like is the ability to add multiple topics (tags) for a quote. If youre a prospective buyer I hope my review provides a little balance to the negative reviews. More importantly, I hope your experience will be like mine has been--grateful, excited, pleased, and well-organized.

It is clear this app is no longer supported so reviews are pointless. It has been over 6 months with no updates and no response. This is a dead app
